Burna Boy claims that he does not make money in Nigeria.
Burna Boy, the Grammy award-winning artiste, has sparked a debate on the Nigerian Twitter space once again, this time over a tweet in which he claimed that he does not make money in Nigeria. The singer made the remark while responding to fan tweets on the microblogging platform. “Burna boy go soon leave Twitter NG for una,” one of the tweets said.
“Me wey no even be Nigerian artist,” said the African Giant. Another fan questioned the singer’s response, writing, “But you dey promote African culture and you dey deny your own motherland, all na showbiz as usual.” (Sic.) The Odogwu singer took advantage of the opportunity to reveal that he does not make money in Nigeria, writing on Twitter, “I’m from here and I live here because I love my home and my people, E no pass like that.” I don’t make any money in Nigeria. Only cruise ships are present.” (Sic.)
His response elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians, who took to Twitter to express their displeasure with the singer’s remark. Some Twitter users, however, support the Wonderful singer.
@thedelichi tweeted, “Burna Boy has been on a 100% run since January 2018 (he’s been dropping solid tracks before that too) when he dropped Outside.” Nobody has surpassed his discography since then, which may not be what you want to hear. In every way, he is an African Giant.”
