According to a source in Ado Ekiti, the traditional ruler was abducted while returning from the farm with his wife on Friday, but his wife was not
He became the third traditional monarch to be attacked in identical circumstances in less than three months as a result of the occurrence. Brig.-Gen. Joe Komolafe, Commander of the Ekiti State Security Network code-named Amotekun, confirmed the kidnapping of the state’s traditional ruler on Saturday.
He claimed that all security forces in Ekiti, including police, troops, Aootekun corps, local hunters, and Vigilance groups, were already in the forest looking for the Oba.
ASP Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti Command, said the command was still investigating the accusations and would respond formally as soon as more information about the reality or otherwise of the claimed occurrence became available. Abutu emphasized that the police will continue to be ready to deal with all types of criminals, wherever they may be hiding in the state. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Oba was kidnapped in the company of his wife while on their way from a farm in Eda Ile late on Friday. According to local sources in Ado Ekiti, the Oba and his wife would have been kidnapped if the traditional ruler had not appealed to them.
“The Oba and his wife went to the farm and were confronted by gunmen. “The two were about to be kidnapped, but the monarch asked the bandits to release his wife, which they agreed to,” one of the individuals stated.
