Insecurity: Nigeria can’t afford another civil war — CAN Youth Wing
On Thuesday, the Nigerian Christian Association, Youth Wed, stated that Nigeria cannot afford another civil conflict since the country does not augur well because the disastrous consequences of the Biafra war have not to be recovered. Belusochukwu Enwere, National Chair of CAN’s Youth Wing, stated in a statement in Abuja that the country’s security condition was deplorable.
“My heart is saddened by the security situation, particularly in the South East. There is an urgent need for action and attention in our country. Nigerians are unable to enjoy the current bloodshed and the way our young people, politicians, students and security during a season of anomie ‘I want to urge for restraint and cease all this murderous behavior,’ he added, on behalf of all the Christian Youth. Enwere added that by taking measures to solve the situation in our country, the government and security services must take up the task.

“We thus urge the federal government, the governors, the army, the police and other security authorities to do the necessary things. “We can’t afford another one,” he he. “There are still fresh civil war scars on our minds and psyches.

The president of the CAN Youth Wing emphasized that only by their words could the elite make a big influence. “To handle this situation carefully and to tear it in the bud, before the situation gets too late, I also urge the Federal Government, southeastern government governors, bishops and clergy, Ohaneze Ndi-igbo, traditional leaders, the military and police and other security agencies, generals, youth and opinion moulders. The time is now to avoid a conflict without need,” remarked Enwere. He consequently called for peaceful conversation in all areas of the country and urged young people to give peace and stop the desperate destruction of life and property. It asked for a peaceful dialogue.
