DRAKE ANNOUNCES HIS CHOICE FOR THE GREATEST RAPPER ALIVE

Drake is the most-streamed artist of all time, with a remarkable 39 billion listens on Spotify alone, and he most likely has a legion of admirers who consider him to be the best rapper alive. But who is at the top of that list, according to Drizzy? October’s Very Own announced his pick in the ongoing barbershop discussion over who the best rapper on Earth is in a video posted to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (August 11): Rick Ross is a rapper. Drake uploaded a video of Rozay hanging out with the newest signee to his OVO Sound label, Toronto rapper Smiley, whom he also praised. He captioned the video, “The greatest rapper alive met my favorite rapper alive.”

Drake has made no secret of his affection for Rick Ross, collaborating with him on multiple tracks, including “Aston Martin Music,” “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” “Money in the Grave,” “Gold Roses,” “Lord Knows,” and “Stay Schemin.” At one point, the duo even planned to release a collaborative project called Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once). Rozay sparked excitement for the long-awaited full-length collaboration in June. During an interview with Complex, Ross teased, “The timing and everything is aligning.” “It’s something we genuinely want to convey to the streets, on some real shit.”

So far, it appears to be really solid.” Drake revealed his top five rappers of all time last May, listing The Notorious B.I.G., JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Tony, and Outkast’s André 3000 as his choices. “My top five are Biggie, Hov, Wayne, Young Tony, and 3000 because nobody asked,” he said in an Instagram remark. Young Tony, better known as OVO Hush, is a veteran Toronto rapper who was a member of the mid-2000s group Deep Pockets. Meanwhile, Drake’s upcoming sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy, which he recently revealed is finished, will attempt to solidify his place in the G.O.A.T. debate. Fans are still waiting for an official release date, but according to NBA superstar/Hip Hop insider LeBron James, the album will be out “soon.”
