On Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) vowed to help Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State in addressing the state’s infrastructure shortfalls.
The president also stated that he will use his executive authority to address any security breaches in the state.
Buhari said he was satisfied with the state’s level of progress when commissioning the Egbeada-Onitsha bypass route in Owerri.
In the face of instability and infrastructure shortages, he claimed, no society could accomplish genuine development.
Buhari said that what Uzodinma was doing in the state aligned with his vision of a secure Nigeria with significant infrastructure improvements.
“I went around and was impressed with what I saw,” the president added. A society without security and infrastructure would not grow, and I am fortunate that the governor of Imo state shares my perspective. I will exercise my constitutional authority to force the governor to accomplish more.”
Earlier in his speech, the governor implored the president to address the insecurity and floods that he said was devastating Owerri, the state capital, on a permanent basis.
