Eight hours before his murder, I discussed insecurity with my son – Na’Allah

Senator Bala Na’Allah, who represents Kebbi State’s Kebbi South Senatorial District, said he spoke with his son, Abdulkareem, just hours before learning of his death on Sunday.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on the Air Force, stated that his conversation with his son focused primarily on the country’s alarming security situation.

Na’Allah, who is also a pilot, spoke while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Correspondents’ Chapel, Kaduna Council, who paid him a condolence visit in the state capital on Tuesday.

Hajiya Asmau Halilu, the chapel’s Chairman, led the delegation.

According to the lawmaker, he discussed the security situation in the country with his 36-year-old son eight hours before his murder, adding, “Little did he know that he had less than eight hours to live.”

Na’Allah also warned Nigerians against politicizing the country’s security problems, urging politicians to band together regardless of political affiliation in order to confront the problems head on.

“Since Abdulkareem’s death, so many things have happened that have taken away the pain of his death from me,” the lawmaker said. Around 9.27 p.m., I spoke with him (on Saturday). The topic of our conversation, I swear by the Holy Qur’an, was security. I had no idea, and he had no idea, that he had less than eight hours to live.

“This insecurity issue did not appear overnight, and it is important that we understand this because if we do not, we will continue to prescribe a medicine that will not cure it, and the prescription, which is dangerous to me based on what I have seen so far, is for politicians to attempt to politicize the security issue.

“Doesn’t courtesy demand that we counsel ourselves and examine the issues in detail? What causes them to happen? Then, armed with that knowledge, we can prescribe the proper antidote to our ailment.”
