Lagos State Police Command has detained a woman, Jennifer Madueke, over the disappearance of CSP Adegoke Akinlade’s service pistol from Denton Divisional Police Station.
PUNCH It was gathered by Metro that the 29-year-old was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Yaba after spending three days at the Denton Police Station in Ebute Meta, where she allegedly was tortured to confess to the crime.
Apparently, Madueke and Akinlade dated for some time before the police officer was transferred out of Lagos seven years ago, according to our source.
Sources say that after the officer was transferred back to Lagos, the lovers broke up because they had lost contact with each other after the officer was transferred back to Lagos.
In 2021, they met, according to the source, and exchanged contact information.
He proposed that they continue to date the DPO’s wife.
His office was open on Friday, August 27, and he slept with her until Saturday morning. In the early morning hours around 5am, he let her go, and even escorted her to the bus stop with her.
When he invited the girl to go out with him on Saturday, September 4, they hadn’t seen each other since.
The Police at the SCIID took the suspect to her home on Tuesday, September 7, and searched the apartment in hopes of finding the missing pistol, Metro has learned from sources.
There were no results to show for it.
Another source claimed that Hakeem Odumosu, the state police commissioner, had questioned the DPO.
“But why is he still there when he should have been removed by now?” Isn’t that a travesty? they asked.
During her visit, she was arrested and accused of stealing a service pistol. So, she was locked up in his cell until Monday, September 6th. They tortured the prisoner until she confessed.
In the early morning of that Monday, he took her to a herbalist on Jebba Street, Ebute Meta. Upon hearing that a young girl had stolen the pistol from him, he was shocked, but she denied the accusation. SCIID detained her in Yaba, a source said.
Ich and the other girl consulted alfas, went to prayer houses, but we couldn’t find the girl. I hadn’t seen her for a week. Someone tracked her, and I paid for it.”
She denied taking the gun, but admitted to taking N7,000 from the bag, he said.
For the purpose of helping detectives recover his stolen firearm, the officer said he went to the SCIID and made statements.
In his words, “I think she’ll still tell us where the gun is,” he said.
Adegoke Fayoade, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCIID, told our correspondent that there was no such matter at the SCIID on Thursday when our correspondent contacted him.
Earlier on Thursday, Nnodi, Madueke’s relative, apologized for missing several calls from our correspondent and said he was at the SCIID at the time.
He, on the other hand, ended the call as soon as the reporter explained the reason for the call.
His tone changed slightly when he returned the call and warned PUNCH Metro not to call him again.
State Police Commissioner, Odumosu, did not answer his calls, which rang repeatedly, and did not respond to his text message.
“Adekunle Ajisebutu,” the state police public relations officer, said he would get back to us as soon as possible. He had not returned by the time of publication.
From a close friend of Madueke, our correspondent learned that Madueke had fallen ill and had been abandoned at the SCIID.
